The 2018 World Press Photo competition has attracted entries from around the world , with more than 4500 photographers from 125 countries submitting over 73 000 images for consideration.

The annual competition profiles and recognises the world’s top press photographers, photojournalists and documentary photographers who captured a single event or significant issue of considerable importance over the course of the last 12 months.

The very best of these images feature in the World Press Photo Exhibition that is on now at Brisbane Powerhouse. This FREE exhibition, which is an absolute must-see event for anybody who appreciates the power of photography as a means of communication, runs until Sunday (July 22).
