Do you prefer your movie viewing experience to be more social than cinematic? Do you like the idea of battling the elements – wind and rain – more than the comfort of an air-conditioned theatre? Do you enjoy the sounds of the urban environment as an added accompaniment to the soundtrack of the movie you are watching? Well, if you answered yes, then you should be very excited that a new season of Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinema kicks off this weekend.
This series of outdoor movie screenings at Southbank Parklands features new releases and a selection of popular classics, with each Sunday session also including musical performances from local artists, games on the lawn and free Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream. The season starts this Friday night (October 2) with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and music from Taylor Moss and continues until November 15, with screenings six nights a week (Tuesday to Sunday) on the Rainforest Green.
A different film features each night and movies scheduled include the likes of Sicario, Dope, Paper Towns, Black Mass, The Martian and The Intern, along with oldies such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dirty Dancing and Clueless.
