The annual GOA Billboards Project Exhibition opens this Wednesday (September 17) in the Shopfront at the Judith Wright Centre for Contemporary Arts in Fortitude Valley as part of Brisbane Festival. This is the 17th year for the competition, which provides an avenue for high school students to have their images of Brisbane on display in a public gallery space.
In a new initiative for 2014, The GOA Billboards Project welcomed anyone with a love or flair for photography to participate in the competition alongside Brisbane secondary students. With 2014 marking the beginning of the ANZAC Centenary, participants were asked to explore through photography their personal opinion, perspective or understanding of the theme ANZAC.
The 2014 GOA Billboards Project features two competition categories:
Fifteen images from each category have been selected for the exhibition and will also feature on GOA’s electronic billboards, with the category winners and runners-up to be announced at the exhibition opening tonight. The images selected for the exhibition will be uploaded to the Brisbane Festival Facebook page and the image with the most ‘likes’ will be awarded the People’s Choice Award.
The exhibition is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm from September 17 until September 27 and entry is FREE.
