This week is your last opportunity to check out a couple a great art exhibitions in Brisbane. Both the Creative Generations Excellence Awards in Visual Art and the World Press Photo exhibition finish this weekend, so you need to be quick.
The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art is an annual exhibition that showcases the outstanding achievements of senior visual art students from schools throughout Queensland. These awards demonstrate the creativity, maturity and talent of young people in Queensland secondary schools. Featuring more than 35 artworks across a wide range of art styles and techniques, the exhibition is at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) until Sunday (June 22).
The World Press Photo is an annual exhibition that brings together the best images captured by photojournalists from around the world. Sometimes inspirational, sometimes harrowing, but always a powerful window to the world, this exhibition is also an annual event is Brisbane and is highly recommended. World Press Photo is at the Brisbane Powerhouse until Sunday (June 22).
Entry to both exhibitions is free, so there really is no excuse not to check them out.
