The Anywhere Theatre Festival is truly one of the most distinctive events on Brisbane’s bustling arts calendar, bringing a wide variety of performances to some truly unique venues throughout the city and suburbs. From a backyard staging of Macbeth to a one-act absurdist play at the Paddington Substation to everything else you could possibly imagine and then some, the festival is currently in full swing. There really is something for everyone amongst the 60+ events scheduled until May 18, with drama, opera, cabaret, comedy, dance, poetry, puppetry, circus, physical theatre and multi-arts presentations on the schedule.
This festival, perhaps more than any other, enables audiences to engage with a huge variety of performance types and styles at reasonable prices in relaxed environments. The Anywhere Theatre Festival challenges traditional ideas about performance and performance spaces and is a fabulous opportunity for young people to experience the performing arts.
